What guarantees of your expertise can you give me?

We have several years of expertise in the sector. We can also seek other experts’ recommendations for you to have the best advice at your disposition. We enjoy an extensive network of experts in the artistic, heritage, curatorial as well as architectural and conservation fields both in Malta as well as overseas.

What methodology do you use in documenting art collections?

Curatorial Studio attaches the utmost importance to accuracy and detail, using internationally accepted principles and methodologies for the documentation of a collection, including art collections. Data concerning artists, literature and other sources will be verified and included within an associated bibliographic reference.

How long will it take for the development of my inventory?

Curatorial Studio operates on a project-by-project basis. We are bound by a commitment to quality for our clients, so the time needed will depend on several factors. Such factors may be the size of your collection, the degree to which it is already documented as well as to the depth of research and detail required.

How to do I keep my data up to date?

Upon completion of the documentation of a collection, most clients will want to ensure that their inventories are kept up to date on an annual basis. Curatorial Studio provides the service of maintaining inventories as well as ensuring the collection’s management and preservation by offering an annual maintenance agreement. This includes the updating of inventories, updating their conservation assessment as well as providing recommendations for the display of a collection.

How may you assist in grant funding for my project?

Establishing a client’s requirements is key to understanding the extent of a cultural or heritage project, so as to develop a project brief. Our experts will develop the project requirements according to the brief, establishing associated budget requirements needed for the project. As each project and client brief is unique Curatorial Studio will look at different grant funding mechanisms as well as corporate sponsorships, to find the ideal match for the project.

How can you assist with fiscal sponsorship?

Recent tax initiatives are allowing corporate entities to support voluntary organizations as well as practising artists whilst benefitting from fiscal tax incentives. This allows cultural organizations as well as artists to benefit from funding for specific projects, whilst corporate organizations can benefit from direct fiscal reductions.  Fiscal sponsorship allows beneficiaries to raise much required funds to safeguard their collection, archives or immovables allowing them to optimize further their fundraising efforts.

Curatorial Studio can assist corporate entities to benefit from this fiscal incentive, by identifying voluntary organizations, artists and specific projects which could benefit from their funding. Curatorial Studio will assist its corporate clients to dovetail projects that correspond to corporate identity as well as helping in the back-end operations required for tax submission purposes. Curatorial Studio can also assist voluntary and non-governmental organizations as well as practising artists, in identifying corporate sponsors, acting as a broker as well as project manager for each project.

We do not offer valuation services but will assist the client in inventory creation as well as recommend highly qualified valuation experts in the sector. Curatorial Studio does not engage in the acquisition, sale or valuations of antiquities.
